Strength

Anyone can give up, it's the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's true strength.

Spring

Everything is blooming most recklessly; if it were voices instead of colors, there would be an unbelievable shrieking into the heart of the night. ~Rainer Maria Rilke, Letters of Rainer Maria Rilke

I went on a nice evening walk yesterday evening, and caught some beautiful blossoms.. Spring is finally here!

Experiment

An experiment on one of the flower photos I did in the San Antonio Zoo. I'm not completely happy with it, but it was fun to do.

The wheels of time

Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza - Dave Barry

Mortality

To take a photograph is to participate in another person's mortality, vulnerability, mutability. Precisely by slicing out this moment and freezing it, all photographs testify to time's relentless melt. Susan Sontag

Defeat

San Antonio Zoo, April 2009

A strange brain warp made me think of the following quote when I finished this photo:

"It is inevitable that some defeat will enter even the most victorious life. The human spirit is never finished when it is defeated. It is finished when it surrenders" - Ben Stein

Green Mamba

San Antonio Zoo - the reptile house

It was quite dark in there, so I had to shoot it at a high ISO, and it ended up more grainy than I would have liked. I had a polarizer on my camera (dumb luck there), which helped fend off the glare off the glass.

Fly Girl

My Aerial Yoga instructor.
She was hanging down from the ceiling, in case you were wondering.

Empty Crate

An empty crate on an empty beach.

Things and People

There's beauty in all things and people. I hope to share some of the beautiful things I see around me through photographs. I am finding that it can be hiding within the smallest things - you have to really keep your eyes open to see it- , and it is often just a matter of finding a new or different perspective on something that at first glance seems ordinary or boring. As with anything in life, I guess.
